Snow report Switzerland
This page does not show piste reports, it shows measurements. Every row is an automatic station in the SLF network near the resort, with its own altitude and its own distance from the skiable terrain. That is a different thing from the number on the lift company’s website: theirs refers to the piste, includes machine-made snow, and is therefore higher and smoother.
The advantage of these figures is that they are comparable. They all come from the same network, they are all collected the same way, and none of them is marketing.

How to read these numbers
«Bare» means no snow. In summer that applies to almost every station, and rightly so: most of them sit between 1800 and 2800 metres, and there is no snow up there in August. A bare station in January would be news.
The station is not the piste. The distance column says how far it stands from the skiable terrain, its altitude says at what level it measures. A station 300 metres below the ski area systematically shows less snow; one in wind-exposed terrain fluctuates more. Neither is an error, both are part of the number.
Machine-made snow does not appear here. These stations measure what fell from the sky and stayed. A resort can have a perfectly skiable piste while the station next to it reports 5 cm. The reverse holds too: deep natural snow at the station does not mean the lifts are turning.
