What sets this ski area apart
Scuol is the main town of the Lower Engadine and, since the 2015 merger with Ardez, Ftan, Guarda, Sent and Tarasp, the largest municipality in Switzerland by area. The language spoken here is Vallader. The name comes from the Latin scopulus, meaning cliff, and refers to the site of the church of San Geer.
The Motta Naluns ski area starts at the viewpoint plateau at 2142 metres and is unusually compact: the access lifts are short and you are out on the terrain quickly. Most of the runs are easy to intermediate, with the harder skiing at Mot da Ri and Salaniva, and the Salaniva, Champatsch and Salez sector is a wide freeride area. The best-known descent is the ten-kilometre run down to Sent, the lower three kilometres of which are covered by snowmaking.
On top of that comes what has shaped the town since the nineteenth century: the mineral springs. Skiing and bathing on the same day is not a marketing line here, it is the reason Scuol still works in bad weather.
