What sets this ski area apart
Minschuns is the ski area of the Val Müstair, the Münstertal, which runs some 25 kilometres from the Ofen pass down to the South Tyrolean Vinschgau. The national border here is also the language border between Romansh and German.
The valley carries heavy history. On 22 May 1499 the Battle of Calven was fought here, in which the Grisons finally repelled the Habsburg attempts under Maximilian I to annex the territory. Müstair is also home to the UNESCO World Heritage monastery of St John, one of the oldest surviving buildings of its kind north of the Alps.
The ski area itself is small and lies away from any through route: getting to Minschuns means crossing the Ofen pass through the national park. That costs time, and it is exactly why it is quiet here.
