What sets this ski area apart
Klewenalp is a terrace at 1593 metres above Beckenried on Lake Lucerne. It is alpine pasture first and ski area second: the Klewen area holds 22 alp operations for summering cattle, managed by the Beckenried commoners' corporation.
For skiing, Klewenalp belongs together with Emmetten-Stockhütte, linked since the Emmetten to Stockhütte gondola opened on 22 December 2007. Two valley runs lead down, either to Beckenried or to Emmetten. The highest point is the top station of the Chälen chairlift at around 2000 metres.
The real draw is the view: the terrain drops away northwards straight to the lake, and you ski towards Lake Lucerne all day. That same position also means the base sits low and the valley runs become precarious as soon as a winter turns mild.
