What sets this ski area apart
Tschiertschen lies on the southern side of the Schanfigg valley, seven kilometres south-east of Chur. Its administrative history in recent years is striking: an independent municipality until 2008, part of Tschiertschen-Praden from 2009 to 2024, and today a locality of the city of Chur. A ski village that belongs to the cantonal capital.
The place is old. At the end of the eighth century it appears as Cercene, an early Romance settlement with documented arable farming. The highest point of the former municipal area is the Parpaner Weisshorn at 2824 metres.
For skiing, Tschiertschen is an open secret: few lifts, a lot of undeveloped terrain, and its closeness to Chur makes it the shortest route out of the Rhine valley into an area that does not look like an industrial operation.
