What sets this ski area apart
Grüsch lies in the lower Prättigau on the alluvial fan of the Taschinas stream, where it emerges into the roughly one-kilometre-wide floor of the Landquart valley. Since 2011 Fanas and Valzeina have also belonged to the municipality.
One oddity from the village's history: while most Catholic places in Switzerland switched from the Julian to the Gregorian calendar in 1583/84 and most Reformed ones in 1701, Grüsch and Schiers did so only in 1812. For over two hundred years, time here was reckoned differently from the rest of the country.
The Danusa ski area sits above the village and is classic Prättigau family terrain: modest in size, sunny, without great altitude. Coming from Landquart you are there quickly, which makes it an afternoon destination for the Bündner Herrschaft.
