What sets this ski area apart
The Nara ski area lies above Leontica in the middle Blenio valley and reaches 2330 metres. Leontica itself sits at 876 metres and has belonged to the municipality of Acquarossa since 2004. The place name appears in 1204 as Levontega and contains the tribal name of the Lepontii, which also survives in the Leventina.
Because of its north-south orientation and its width, the Blenio valley is also called the Valle del Sole, the valley of the sun. For a ski area that cuts both ways: plenty of sunshine, but also faster thawing on the south-facing slopes.
Nara is one of those small Ticino areas that stand in the shadow of Airolo and Bosco Gurin. If you live in the Blenio valley it is on your doorstep; anyone coming from further afield usually combines it with the Lukmanier or with a day down in the valley.
