What sets this ski area apart
Hoch-Ybrig lies in the municipalities of Unteriberg and Oberiberg, overlooked by the Drusberg at 2282 metres, which together with the Forstberg and Twäriberg forms the ridge dividing it from the Muota valley and the Glarus region. Ybrig is the local dialect form of Iberg.
The distinctive feature is a link that no piste map shows at first glance: via three prepared runs, the so-called Ski Safari, the area connects to the lifts on the Ibergeregg and, via the Illgau–St. Karl cable car, to the Mythenregion. That makes it possible to ski all the way through to Brunni.
For people from Zurich, Hoch-Ybrig is one of the nearest proper ski areas. The base, though, sits low, and in mild winters the question of whether the valley run still holds is settled here sooner than elsewhere.
