Gstaad (inkl. Glacier 3000) lies between the Bernese Oberland and Vaud and is one of the larger Swiss ski areas: 200 kilometres of piste served by 50 lifts.

The area runs from 1000 to 2971 metres above sea level, giving around 1,971 metres of vertical. The upper slopes therefore sit at an altitude that usually holds snow reliably even in weaker winters.

The ski terrain reaches up to a glacier, and the season runs Nov – May (Glacier 3000). There is no summer skiing here any more, but the state of the glacier remains a live issue.

There is a snow park, an adult day pass costs around CHF 82.

Of note: Glacier 3000: summer skiing ended in 2004, long autumn and spring season
