What sets this ski area apart
The Wiriehorn stands in the Diemtigtal, a side valley of the Simmental, precisely between the main valley and the Riedere side valley to its right. The valley is bounded on one side by the Niesen chain and on the other by the Turnen and Niderhorn; the Seehore, Spillgerte and Rauflihorn close it off at the top.
The Diemtigtal is one of the largest protected landscapes in Switzerland and is designated a regional nature park. That shapes the valley more than winter sports do: little construction, scattered farms, and a ski area that has to fit into those surroundings.
The valley is reached only by road from the Simmental, plus the postbus from Oey to Grimmialp. Anyone arriving by train changes at Oey-Diemtigen.
