Kitzsteinhorn / Kaprun lies in the Salzburg region and is a manageable ski area: 63 kilometres of piste served by 24 lifts.
The area runs from 768 to 3029 metres above sea level, giving around 2,261 metres of vertical. That takes the terrain above the 3,000-metre mark, which markedly improves snow reliability on the upper slopes.
The ski terrain reaches up to a glacier, and the season runs Oct – May. There is no summer skiing here any more, but the state of the glacier remains a live issue.
An adult day pass costs EUR 82.
Of note: The figures include the Maiskogel down to Kaprun; the glacier terrain itself begins at around 2,450 m. Summer skiing ended in 2023.

Chronicle: the summer ski areas that no longer exist
In the 1980s the lifts were running in July on more than 20 Alpine glaciers. Since 15 August 2026 there are none. The chronicle of a quiet disappearance, from Laax in 1992 to the Stelvio in 2026.
