Season start of 26 September called off
The Kaunertal glacier lifts have called off the planned start. Persistently warm temperatures and a forecast with continued temperatures above freezing mean the ski operation planned for 26 September 2026 cannot go ahead. A new date will be announced as soon as snow and temperature conditions allow; none has been given yet.

The area runs from 2150 to 3113 metres above sea level, giving around 963 metres of vertical. That takes the terrain above the 3,000-metre mark, which markedly improves snow reliability on the upper slopes.
The ski terrain reaches up to a glacier, and the season runs Sep – May. There is no summer skiing here any more, but the state of the glacier remains a live issue.
An adult day pass costs EUR 75.
Of note: One of the first areas in the Alps to open each autumn. The lift company itself advertises 63 km of piste. Summer skiing ended in 2000.
